2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace recalled

Airbag issue – unrelated to Takata – forces more than 200 seven-seaters back to the dealer.

The seven-seat Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has been recalled, over concerns about the passenger airbag.

According to the company, certain examples could contain a defective airbag on the passenger side. The airbag may have been packed incorrectly, meaning it doesn't deploy in an accident.

Passengers are placed at greater risk of injury if the airbag doesn't deploy in an accident where it otherwise should.

A total of 216 vehicles are included in the recall – a VIN list is attached here.

Volkswagen Australia will contact affected owners and advise them to contact their nearest dealer for a free fix. Although it's an airbag-related recall, this isn't related to the ongoing Takata scandal.
