2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class pricing and specs

New engines and added features for updated sedan, coupe and convertible lines.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has released pricing and specifications for the upgraded 2019 E-Class range, bolstered by new powertrain options and added technology.

Key changes for the new model year include the standard fitment of the Driver Assistance Package Plus acros the range, adding features like enhanced traffic sign assist for the adaptive cruise control system.

There's also a new steering wheel with touch-sensitive buttons and wheel-mounted cruise controls as seen in the S-Class and C-Class ranges, along with adaptive high-beam assist now standard on the entry-level E200 and E200d.

Mercedes-Benz has dropped the E300 sedan for 2019, meaning there's a $30,000 jump between the E220d and E350e.

In terms of powertrain upgrades, the E350d gets a new 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo-diesel making 210kW (up from 190kW), while the new E450 models replace the outgoing E400 and get an uprated version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 making 270kW and 500Nm (up 25kW and 20Nm).

New to the local range is the AMG E53 4Matic+, available in sedan, coupe and cabriolet body styles. Power in the E53 comes from a turbo twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system dubbed EQ Boost.

Outputs for the petrol engine are rated at 320kW and 520Nm, while the integrated starter motor generator can add up to 16kW and 250Nm for short periods.

Drive is sent to a performance-tuned 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system via a nine-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include 20-inch alloys, nappa leather upholstery, Burmester surround sound system, front sports seats, sports steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof (sedan and coupe).

Further to these items, the E53 Cabriolet gets an acoustic soft top, the Aircap "automatic draught stop" system, and Airscarf neck-level heating for the front seats.

Mercedes-Benz Australia will also offer a limited-run Sport Edition package for the entry-level E200 and E200d sedans, priced at $10,500 over their respective base cars.

Added equipment for this package includes a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, Burmester sound system, AMG body styling, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, natural leather upholstery, heated front seats and metallic paint.

The updated E-Class range is on sale now. Note: Some pictures show overseas models
