2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class/E-Class recalled

Coupes and cabriolets could be fitted with faulty seat locks, posing a safety risk.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for certain C-Class and E-Class Coupes and Cabriolets sold during 2017 over concerns the seats may not lock into place correctly.

According to the German marque, "the locking mechanism on the right side of the seat backrest in affected vehicles may not lock in place at times".

This presumably relates to the front seats, given the company goes on to say front occupants are at a risk of injury if the seat position isn't locked and the vehicle is involved in an accident.

A total of 416 units are affected by this recall – the VIN list can be viewed here. Recalled vehicles were available for sale from 1 May 2017 through 31 August 2017.

Owners are encouraged to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and replacement of their seat backrests (if required).
