2019 Holden Acadia preliminary specs revealed

Holden is going hard with the spec of its incoming seven-seat Kluger rival.

Holden has announced preliminary details about the specification of its upcoming seven-seat SUV, the Acadia, ahead of a fourth-quarter arrival in showrooms.

The mechanical underpinnings of the Acadia are already confirmed: it'll get a 3.6-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission, sending power to either the front or all four wheels, depending on trim level.

Although model-specific details haven't been revealed, the entire range will get autonomous emergency braking, auto high-beam, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and rear park assist.

Given some owners are going to want to tow, the addition of Trailer Assist is a positive one, while Holden is touting the car as its first with traffic sign recognition.

Keyless entry, push-button start, tri-zone climate control, USB ports across all three rows, navigation and a rear-view camera are also included across the range, along with a new infotainment system (compared to the Equinox) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Wheels up to 20 inches will be offered, as well as a hands-free tailgate and dual-panel panoramic sunroof.

"The level of technology across the range is compelling," said Matt Rattray-Wood, general manager of SUV marketing at Holden. "Whether we are talking safety, convenience or infotainment, Acadia has the most complete technology package Holden has ever offered."

Holden has made a lot of noise about its local tuning for the Acadia, which reportedly involves almost 1.5 million kilometres of driving. Employees and their families have been putting the car through its paces, reporting on how the car integrates with their day-to-day life.

"The aim of the program is to find real-world problems before our customers do so that they and their families have absolute peace of mind that their Acadia is built and tuned to perform in every way," said Steve Corcoran, Holden regional quality manager.

The new Acadia is slated for a fourth-quarter arrival in showrooms. Full pricing and specs will be announced closer to launch.
