2019 BMW X1 ‘LCI’ spied

Facelifted crossover spotted again, with new images of the interior.

The facelifted BMW X1 has been spied in Europe during development testing, giving us a closer look at the forthcoming mid-life update.

Despite the camouflage at both ends, it appears the updated X1 will get slimmer headlights with new internals, revised bumpers, and new LED tail-lights.

An image of the cabin shows what appears to be a larger central infotainment system, which may also be running the latest iteration of BMW's iDrive infotainment software. We'd expect upgraded trims and finishes inside, too.

Under the skin, it's believed the X1's powertrain family will receive updates to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

There's also speculation that the updated X1 range will feature an M Performance variant, likely a high-output four-cylinder petrol engine mated with xDrive all-wheel drive. Such a model would be the more practical equivalent to the upcoming X2 with the same powertrain.

In terms of timing, we're expecting the updated X1 line-up to make its debut at the end of this year or early next, with an Australian market launch likely to occur mid- to late-2019.
