Revised looks and new engine family headline changes for small crossover
The facelifted Fiat 500X has been unveiled in Europe with a lightly refreshed exterior, improved equipment levels, and two new turbocharged petrol engines.
Externally, the updated 500X is distinguished by new eye-style LED daytime running lights around the main and secondary lighting units. At the rear, like the revised 500 hatch, the 500X now features tail-light units with a body colour insert.
There's also redesigned front and rear bumpers, with the front-wheel drive City Cross and all-wheel drive Cross variants featuring bash plate-like elements.
Under the bonnet, revised the 500X is available with the company's new Firefly turbocharged modular petrol engines, each featuring an aluminium block and a gasoline particulate filter.
In Europe the Firefly 1.0-litre three-cylinder is rated at 89kW of power and 190Nm of torque, and will be paired with a six-speed manual and front-wheel drive.
The larger 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine has 112kW of power and 270Nm of torque, and comes equipped with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The other petrol engine available on the continent is the naturally-aspirated 82kW 1.6-litre E-Torq mill.
For turbo-diesel buyers the 500X will be available 71kW/200Nm 1.3-litre, 89kW/320Nm 1.6-litre, and 112kW/350Nm 2.0-litre engines.
Inside, the 500X benefits from a redesigned instrument cluster with a configurable 3.5-inch display, and a new steering wheel.
Models fitted with the 7.0-inch touchscreen have access to the Uconnect infotainment system, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring.
On its home continent the updated 500X will be fitted with traffic sign recognition, speed advisories, and lane departure warning as standard.
Available safety features now include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, adaptive high-beam, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers.
