Hennessey Venom F5 outputs revealed

7.6-litre twin-turbo V8 puts out a whopping 1192kW and 1762Nm, and they're almost sold out.

Hennessey has revealed more details about its new Venom F5 hypercar, namely regarding its bonkers powertrain.

Making its public debut at 'The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering' at Monterey Car Week in California, the Venom F5 features a 7.6-litre twin-turbo V8 making "more than" 1600bhp (1192kW) of power at 7200rpm, and 1300lb-ft (1762Nm) of torque at 4400rpm.

The firm is still yet to disclose a 0-60mph or 0-100km/h time, though the Venom F5 is claimed to be capable of roaring from 0-186mph (0-299kmh) in under 10 seconds, and do 0-249mph (0-401km/h) in less than 30 seconds.

Hennessey is also chasing a new production car top speed record, claiming the Venom F5 will hit 301mph (484km/h) flat out – the current record holder is the Koenigsegg Agera RS, which achieved a verified 457km/h last November. SSC might have something to say about that, given it's also chasing more than 480km/h with the Tuatara.

The company has worked closely with Shell and Pennzoil to create the monster powerplant, which features a billet aluminium machined engine block, steel cylinder sleeves, precision ball bearing twin turbos with billet compressor wheels, stainless steel turbo headers and a dry-sump oiling system.

Just 24 examples of the Venom F5 will be produced, and the company says 15 have already been accounted for.

Pricing for the all-American hypercar kicks off at US$1.6 million ($2.18 million), which is a relative steal when you compare that to the €5 million ($7.8 million) asking price of the Bugatti Divo.

Do you reckon the Venom F5 will match Hennessey's claims?
