2019 Honda NSX revealed in Monterey, pricing unchanged for Australia

Hybrid supercar gets new colour and trim options in addition to chassis and software upgrades.

The updated Honda NSX – known in other markets as the Acura NSX – has been revealed at Monterey Car Week, ahead of an Australian launch in "early 2019".

Key changes include a new Thermal Orange Pearl exterior paint option (pictured), which the company says pays homage to 30 years of Acura race cars with orange-accented liveries. Matching orange brake calipers can now be optioned, too.

Compared to the outgoing model, there's also a body-colour front grille garnish (previously silver), along with high-gloss finishes for the front grille surround, air intake mesh, and rear bumper mesh.

Additionally, the carbon-fibre exterior package now features a high-gloss finish for components including the front lip spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler.

The design changes extend to the interior, too, with Indigo Blue semi-aniline leather and Alcantara trim now available.

Under the skin, Honda's engineers have modified the chassis and software to make the NSX stiffer and more responsive, while the new Continental SportContact 6 tyres have been specifically developed for the hybrid supercar.

The new rubber features a revised treat pattern, construction and rubber compound for "improved handling performance in all conditions".

Power continues to come from a 373kW/550Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with three electric motors, making for combined outputs of 427kW and 646Nm, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and Honda's Sport Hybrid all-wheel drive system.

The 2019 NSX will be available to order Down Under from September 1, with delivers to commence in "early 2019". Pricing remains at $420,000 before on-road costs.

Eight exterior colours (including the new Thermal Orange) and five interior trims are on offer, with metallic and pearlescent paints asking for an additional $1500, while special Andaro nanoparticle pearlescent finishes priced at $10,000.
