2018 Jeep Compass recalled

150 SUVs could have faulty cruise control systems that accelerate without warning.

Jeep Australia has issued yet another recall this week, this time for the 2018 Compass over concerns an issue with the Power Control Module (PCM) could cause the cruise control to lock speed or accelerate unexpectedly.

The manufacturer reports that affected vehicles have have faulty PCM software, which could potentially lead to the aforementioned fault.

If the condition occurs, Jeep says this poses an accident risk to the driver and other road users if the vehicle isn't shifted to neutral or have the brakes applied.

There are 152 units affected by this recall – a VIN list can be viewed here.

Owners of the recalled Compass models will be contacted via mail, and advised to schedule an appointment at their local dealer to have their vehicle inspected and reprogrammed if necessary.

For more information, customers can contact Jeep through their website, or on 1300 133 079.

This is the third recall Jeep has issued this week, and the second for the Compass – it was recalled yesterday amongst several models for a potential stalling problem.
