2011-15 Audi A4, A5, Q5 recalled

11,000 units potentially affected by faulty heaters that could start a fire.

Audi Australia has issued a recall for the 2011-2015 A4, A5, and Q5 model lines, over concerns a faulty heating element in the air-conditioning system could pose a fire risk.

The German marque reports that the auxiliary heater element in the ventilation system may fail as the result of overheating "in the area of the connectors".

If the condition occurs, and the heater element overheats, this may lead to "smoulder damage or potentially a fire".

Affected vehicles were manufactured from April 2011 through May 2015 – a VIN list is attached here. The company says a total of 11,041 units are included in this recall.

Owners of the recalled units will be contacted by Audi Australia, and are advised to get in touch with their local dealer to arrange the replacement of their heater element.

For more information, contact the company's 24-hour helpline on 1800 50 AUDI (2834).
