2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE spied in China

Next-gen SUV sports a new look that evolves the Mercedes-Benz formula, along with a sharp new interior.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been spied wearing fairly minimal disguise in China, revealing the car's new light signature and a few exterior details.

The pictures, published by CarNewsChina.comshow the next-generation SUV wearing a cover over the bumper and nose, along with black cladding over the rear three-quarter panels and three-quarter window.

That window has been something of a signature for the GLE-Class (nee ML-Class) over its life, so we're interested to see where Mercedes-Benz takes it here.

The tail-lights are hard to make out, but they appear to take a similar shape to those of the current GLC. Not surprising, given the 'Russian Doll' approach Mercedes-Benz has taken to styling its cars recently. Meanwhile, the daytime-running light signature looks like a more angular take on the formula laid down by the brand's current SUV range.

As for the interior, well, we've already had a good look at what's in store. The dual-display infotainment setup from the A-Class looks to have made the leap, along with the new MBUX operating system.

A set of square air vents sits beneath the central display, while G-Wagen inspired grab handles run along the sides of the transmission tunnel.

We probably won't have to wait long to see the new GLE in full, with the next-generation crossover likely to debut at this year's Paris motor show, which takes place in October.
