2019 BMW Z4 M40i leaked in full
Does the Z4 M40i look a bit sharper with some perspective, or are you still against the styling?
After leaking in a set of poorly-lit, awkwardly cropped pictures earlier this week, the BMW Z4 M40i has been outed in full.
Unsurprisingly it looks just like the world expected, albeit with slightly toned-down detailing over the show car launched at Pebble Beach last year.
The pictures, leaked on Belgian automotive website autotijd.be, reveal the car's compact proportions better than the first set of photos. The chrome grille from the concept has been subbed for a darker unit, and some of the detailing on the splitter has been toned down for series production.
Down back, the slimline taillights are remarkably true to the concept, as are the integrated spoiler and broad, rounded hips. Looks are subjective, of course, but this author is a fan of the new shape. What do you think?
Whereas the first car we saw was red with gloss black wheels, this version is finished in a lovely shade of orange, and rides on dark silver alloys. Given the other car leaked had a gloss black grille as well, we'd suggest some kind of 'night' or 'black pack' will be offered as an option.
Behind the wheel, the latest BMW interior design and infotainment system feature, along with a centre stack inspired by that of the new 8 Series.
Power in the M40i will come from a 3.0-litre inline-six engine making between 250 and 285kW depending on market, along with 500Nm of torque. It'll be put to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while adaptive dampers and an electrically-controlled limited-slip differential.
