Aston Martin has recently undergone a significant change in its powertrain line-up – both its V8 and V12 engine offerings are now turbocharged.
In something of an unintentional old v new battle, Mat Watson from the UK's Carwow pitted a DB11 V8 against a previous-generation Vantage GT8 – the latter owned by popular YouTube personality, Shmee150.
Power in the V8 DB11 comes from a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, putting out 375kW of power and 675Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic. Aston Martin claims a 0-100 sprint time of 4.0 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Vantage GT8 does things the old-school way. Under the bonnet is a 4.7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 making 328kW of power and 490Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and in the case of Shmee's one, a six-speed manual, and the company claims the Vantage GT8 can hit 60mph (97km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
