2019 Skoda Fabia detailed, here in Q4

Facelifted hatch and wagon range offer fresh looks, more tech and nicer trims.

Skoda has revealed new details and images of the updated 2019 Fabia, ahead of an Australian launch later this year.

While it hasn't gone under a full generational refresh like the MQB-based Seat Ibiza and Volkswagen Polo, the updated MY19 Fabia hatchback and 'Combi' wagon line-up offer a range of cosmetic updates, new driver assistance technologies along with upgraded interior trims.

European models will come as standard with LED daytime-running lights for the first time, with full-LED headlights and tail-lights newly available depending on model variant – the top-spec Monte Carlo, for example, gets the latter two as standard.

As reported when it was first revealed in February, the Fabia has received a mild exterior refresh, including the front grille, headlights and bumpers, along with the option of 18-inch alloys (hatch only) for the first time.

Inside, the little Skoda gains a redesigned instrument cluster – which the company claims improves legibility – while there are "higher-quality materials" and "new decors" throughout the cabin.

Overseas models will be offered with a range of trim choices, including a two-tone colour scheme and a microfibre option.

The new Fabia also introduces several convenience features too, including one-touch up/down for all four windows, further bolstered by a new function that allows all four windows to be opened or closed simultaneously by holding the lock/unlock button on the key fob.

Select variants get new cabin illumination for the centre console storage compartment as well.

For 2019, the updated Fabia also adds three new driver-assist technologies, bolstering its already-decent safety suite.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are now available for the first time, along with an auto high-beam function for the available full-LED headlights.

Other additions for 2019 include a removable LED torch in the boot of Combi wagon versions, an available tablet holder for second-row passengers, and the option of two USB charging points in the rear for portable devices.

Australia

Having previously indicating a third-quarter release Down Under, Skoda's local division confirmed with CarAdvice this week that the new Fabia is scheduled to hit Australian showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2018.
