2019 Hyundai Tucson pricing and specs

Facelifted SUV arrives from $28,150 before on-roads with more tech and extra equipment.

Hyundai Australia has detailed pricing and specifications for the updated 2019 Tucson line-up, which brings fresh looks, new infotainment and the availability of active safety features across the range.

As before, the Tucson range consist of four trim levels, though the base Active has been renamed Go, in line with the i30 hatchback's range opener.

Three engines are available depending on grade: a 121kW/203Nm 2.0-litre 'GDi' naturally-aspirated petrol, a 130kW/265Nm 1.6-litre 'T-GDi' turbocharged petrol, and a 136kW/400Nm 2.0-litre 'CRDi' turbo-diesel.

While the powertrains themselves are the same as before, the diesel is now fitted with an eight-speed automatic as standard, compared to the outgoing model's six-speeder.

The Go and ActiveX trims are also available for the first time with Hyundai's SmartSense active safety suite, available on automatic models for $2200. Additional features include autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, along with driver attention monitoring.

Opting for the 'Safety Pack' also adds high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control with stop/go, dual-zone climate control, an electronic park brake, exterior puddle lights, and a cooled glovebox.

Key equipment for the entry-level Go (from $28,150) includes a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 17-inch steel wheels, front and rear fog-lights, LED daytime-running lights, cruise control, and automatic headlights.

The Go is fitted with the 2.0 GDi petrol and six-speed manual as standard with front-wheel drive, with a six-speed automatic available ($30,650) for the base engine, along with the 2.0 CRDi and eight-speed auto with all-wheel drive ($35,950).

Next in the range is the ActiveX (from $31,350), which adds a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen with inbuilt satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio, an eight-speaker Infinity audio system, 17-inch alloys, tyre pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, leather-appointed seats, heated and power folding exterior mirrors, electric lumbar support, and a USB outlet in the rear centre console.

Like the Go, the ActiveX is available with the 2.0 GDi petrol FWD in six-speed manual or six-speed auto ($33,850) guises, along with the 2.0 CRDi AWD and eight-speed auto ($39,150).

The Elite (from $37,850) gets the aforementioned Safety Pack as standard, 18-inch alloys, rain-sensing wipers, a powered driver's seat, keyless entry with push-button start, privacy glass, chrome exterior door handles, and a luggage net.

Engine-wise, the Elite is available with all three powertrain choices, though all are fitted as standard with an automatic transmission. There's the standard 2.0 GDI FWD, the 1.6 T-GDi with AWD and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission ($40,850), and the 2.0 CRDi with AWD and eight-speed auto ($43,150).

Finally, the Highlander (from $46,500) continues at the top of the line-up, scoring 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with static bending lights, LED tail-lights, front parking sensors, a panoramic glass sunroof, powered passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, a power tailgate, an upgraded 4.2-inch driver's display, electro-chromatic rear-view mirror, heated steering wheel, solar glass, twin-tip exhaust, and matte-grey front and rear skid plates.

Options across the range are limited to premium paint ($595), while the Active X, Elite and Highlander can also be optioned with a beige leather interior ($295).

The 2019 Tucson Go is currently being offered from $27,990 drive-away. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for our Australian launch drive review.
