Porsche preparing ‘Project Gold’ 993 911 Turbo homage

We're not sure what it'll look like, but the Project Gold is shaping as a special Porsche.

Porsche resto-modding is in vogue at the moment, with the likes of Singer taking classic 911s and giving them a new, expensive lease on life. Now, the team in Stuttgart is getting on board with the craze, teasing a special air-cooled 911 Turbo developed to celebrate 70 years of Porsche.

Details about the 'Project Gold' 911 are scant at the moment, barring the sketches shown off in the video below. Along with a pumped-up 993 911, there's a sketch of the current 911 Turbo Exclusive Edition on show – maybe it'll serve as inspiration for what shapes as the most exclusive Turbo ever conceived?

We'd suggest the original 3.6-litre turbocharged engine could get a power boost, which would take it beyond the 330kW offered by end-of-life Turbo S variants. It's likely to be fast, then.

Given it's called 'Project Gold', we'd suggest the exterior and interior will be dripping with gold-coloured accents. The car will be given a full reveal on YouTube on August 24, so stay tuned for more teasers in the interim.
