Audi PB 18 e-tron concept headed for Pebble Beach

All-electric supercar is packing styling inspired by Audi's racers and... well, we don't really know what else.

Audi is preparing a supercar concept for the upcoming Monterey Car Week, with a pure-electric drivetrain and slick looks from one of the brand's North American design studios.

Dubbed the PB 18 e-tron (PB for Pebble Beach, 18 to denote the year), the low-slung electric vehicle will make its debut at Laguna Seca on August 23, ahead of a showings at The Quail and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in the subsequent days.

Beyond the fact it's named in the least inventive fashion known to man, Audi has kept details about the PB18 under tight wraps. Its styling has been inspired by the R18 e-tron racer, but we'll have to wait for information about the powertrain.

Given it's being billed as a supercar, we're expecting some seriously eye-catching acceleration numbers. Announced for the video game world and Formula E demonstration laps earlier this year, the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo could provide a hint as to what we'll see.

With three electric motors offering a combined 600kW, it'll hit 100km/h in less than 2.5 seconds. Not quite Tesla Roadster numbers, but we won't hold that against Audi, given neither car exists yet.

Stay tuned for all the latest on the PB 18 e-tron in the lead up to its launch.
