2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ sets new Nurburgring record

Hot new Raging Bull sets lap record for a production vehicle.

A camouflaged version of the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 6:44:97.

This beats the previous record set in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS by over two seconds. Driven by Marco Mapelli, the new lap record for a production car was verified by Remak, with timing done on Vbox-Racelogic equipment.

The company has confirmed a few more details about the Aventador SVJ as part of its extended teaser campaign. The SVJ will ride on specially-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres as standard, although the vehicle which set the new lap record was fitted with optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres instead.

Lamborghini says it has made extensive changes and improvements to the car's stiffness, as well as its all-wheel drive system, rear-wheel steering and stability control setup. It has also confirmed the SVJ's weight-to-power ratio of 1.98kg/hp.

As we can see despite the extensive camouflage, the SVJ has a different aero package with new front splitters, rear diffuser, and a mammoth rear wing.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ will be unveiled at the Monterey Car Week in California, which takes place at the end of August.
