2019 Porsche Macan facelift teased

Porsche's revised mid-size SUV is set for a late-July unveil in China.

Porsche has teased the upcoming facelift to its immensely popular Macan SUV, with an image of the car undergoing high-altitude testing.

First launched in 2014, the Macan follows in the footsteps of the Cayenne, wrapping elements of 'classic Porsche' in a body-style that's more amenable to the average buyer and their children, bags and associated paraphernalia. Say what you will about the 911, it's much easier to sit two kids in a five-door, high-riding body.

Based on spy pictures, we have a pretty good idea what the facelift will entail. It'll look very similar to the current car, with some unique details at the front end and around the lights.

The rumour mill has suggested the Macan S and Turbo will get the 2.9-litre V6 turbo from the Panamera, offered in two different states of tune to justify the price gap, naturally. We'd also expect to see a plug-in hybrid variant, although that's not been confirmed at this point.

Porsche is using these pictures to talk up the Macan's off-road chops. The company says it's tackled rough asphalt, dusty gravel roads and hostile mountain passages ahead of its late-July launch in China.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the Macan in the lead-up to its launch, so stay tuned to CarAdvice.
