2019 Renault Kadjar spied again

New images give a first look at updated French crossover's cabin.

The facelifted Renault Kadjar has been spied again, this time including images of the vehicle's interior – though there's still a heap of camouflage throughout.

Based on the same platform as the Nissan Qashqai, the Kadjar looks set to inherit the French brand's latest family design look, which should bring it more in line with the Megane hatchback and the larger Koleos crossover.

Up front there's an updated grille, bumper, headlights, and fog-lights. Down back, meanwhile, the heavy camouflage suggests similar changes will be in store for the rear bumper and tail-light clusters.

For the first time we can see the updated Kadjar's interior, which at this stage seems to involve a larger infotainment system and revised climate controls. We reckon additional changes will be made, however.

We're also expecting the updated crossover to get more advanced safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and high-beam assist, as seen on the updated Qashqai.

Details on powertrains are few and far between at the moment, but it's believed revised versions of the current small-capacity petrol and diesel range will carryover, offering the choice of manual and continuously-variable transmissions.

Despite not currently being available in Australia, the Kadjar could one day join the French brand's range Down Under, with the company's local division recently telling CarAdvice the updated crossover is under consideration.

Considering the larger Koleos is the top-selling Renault model in Australia, and our market's increasing hunger for SUVs, the Kadjar would be a logical addition to the local range – provided it's priced right.

The Kadjar is solely produced in Spain, meaning it would be expensive to source, potentially pushing it too close to the Korean-sourced Koleos. In saying that, Nissan imports the Qashqai from the UK and that kicks off at $26,490 before on-road costs – some $3000 cheaper than the most affordable X-Trail, which shares its underpinnings with the Koleos.

It's believed the facelifted Kadjar will be officially revealed either later this year or early next, perhaps at the Paris motor show in October. Nothing like a home ground advantage, we say.

Should the new model be green-lit for Australia, we could see it in local showrooms sometime in 2019. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest updates, and click through to the galleries section for more images.
