Poll: Hyundai Kona crushes Renault Zoe

This week, it's an all-British head-to-head.

Renault has opened the Zoe up for public sale, but its price point could prove prohibitive if our latest poll is any guide.

Put head-to-head with the Hyundai Kona Electric, the little electric Renault garnered just 16 per cent of the vote. With a starting price of $47,990 before on-road costs, pushing to $49,990 before on-roads in top grade, the Zoe is priced right around where we're expecting the plug-in electric Hyundai to touch down.

Where the Renault offers around 300km of range from a 41kWh battery, the Hyundai will come with choice of 39.2kWh or 64kWh battery packs for 300km or 470km of range respectively in WLTP testing.

The little Zoe will hit 100km/h in 14.5 seconds thanks to its 68kW/220Nm synchronous electric motor, while the Hyundai makes 99kW/395Nm in its shorter-range trim and 150kW/395Nm in long-range guise.

We're going a bit left-of-centre for this week's poll: it's a British head-to-head. With the engine from a Honda Civic Type R, the new Ariel Atom promises to be more manic than ever before. Would you have one over the (incredibly selfish, incredibly fast) BAC Mono?

UPDATE: It looks like Facebook is doing silly things with its embedded media, as the poll options are no longer appearing above. For now, if you'd like to vote, head to our Facebook post. Otherwise, stay tuned for the results next week.
