Noble M500 revealed at Goodwood

British 'entry-level' supercar debuts at Festival of Speed, but won't go into production until late next year.

Noble Automotive has unveiled its new M500 supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, set to become the firm's new 'base' model when it enters production sometime in 2019.

While the vehicle on display in Goodwood isn't a working prototype – it's a full-size model with no interior, in fact – the M500 will feature a version of Ford's 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 Ecoboost engine seen in the F-150 Raptor and GT supercar, mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The power output is "around" 550bhp (410kW) – according to Autocar – which undercuts the current M600 flagship by some 110bhp (82kW).

Compared to the M600, the M500 is a more modern design, doing away with the squarer lines of the company's top-shelf supercar that first launched in 2010.

The body itself will be made from fibreglass, as opposed to the carbon-fibre construction utilised by the M600. Reports indicate the new supercar should tip the scales around the same 1250kg as its more powerful sibling, though the M500 will be geared towards everyday usability.

Autocar reports company director, Peter Boutwood, said the M500 is still in its early stages of development, leading the British publication to speculate the final version won't enter production until "well into 2019".
