Mazda scores Aussie sales record in April, BT-50 sales up 34%

Mazda has set a new April sales record in Australia with its BT-50 light commercial range up 34 per cent on 2009 levels.

The result sees Mazda's achieve its best ever April result, tallying 6805 new vehicle sales. The Japanese manufacturer has sold 27,919 vehicles in Australia so far this year, an increase of 15.6 per cent on the same time last year.

Leading the charge for the brand's passenger vehicles, Mazda3 models have finished April as Australia's best selling small car (YTD). Mazda3 models found 3079 new homes in April, the tally some 23 per cent better than the April 2009 result.

Mazda6 models are also selling well, the mid-size family car up 21.5 per cent on the same time last year. The result sees Mazda6 models retain their title as Australia's best-selling medium import.

The Mazda2 also enjoyed a good month in April, the run-out model selling 1115 units, a 31.2 per cent increase on last April's figure.

Mazda SUV sales, including Mazda CX-7 and Mazda CX-9, were also steady in their year-to-date figures, up 115 per cent.

Mazda sold 720 CX-7s in April, up 208 per cent year-to-date. The result sees CX-7 become Australia's third best-selling vehicle in the compact SUV segment.

The Mazda CX-9 sold 321 examples, up almost 40 per cent year-to-date.

"We could not be any happier with our April result," said Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson.

"We are proud to be able to boast strong sales across all segments in testimony to Mazda's on-going popularity with Australian new car buyers.

"When you look at the Mazda range every nameplate offers stylish design, an impressive list of features and great value for money.

"In doing so, we're obviously meeting the expectations of buyers and we hope to see this continue."
