BMW Australia has bolstered the 6 Series Gran Turismo range with a new 620d GT variant, priced from $99,900 before on-road costs.
Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel making 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque, the 620d GT claims a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds, while using a claimed 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The addition of the new diesel variant sees the 6 Series Gran Turismo line-up scrape beneath the $100,000 barrier, with the 620d joining the petrol-powered 630i ($123,500) and 640i xDrive ($148,529).
Standard equipment includes the Luxury Line exterior and interior specification, rear air suspension, a panoramic glass sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, high-beam assist, 19-inch light alloy wheels, and an automatic tailgate – representing a decent step up in kit over the equivalent 520d ($92,990).
Other highlights include a head-up display, Driving Assistant Plus (adaptive cruise with stop&go, front and rear cross-traffic alert, lane assist and more), 'Dakota' leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, electric front seats with driver memory, keyless access and start, 12-speaker audio, 10.25-inch Navigation Professional system with BMW Connected+ services, and 'Sensatec' dashboard trim.
Despite the high level of standard kit, there's still a few option packs available for those who want a little more out of their 620d GT.
The M Sport Package ($6500) is an option on the base Gran Turismo, bringing equipment like adaptive air suspension for both axles, front sports seats, 19-inch M light alloy wheels, an Anthracite headliner, Shadow Line dark exterior accents (instead of chrome), 'Fine Wood' interior trims, an M leather steering wheel, the M Aerodynamics Package, and trapezoidal tailpipe finishers.
Meanwhile, there's the Exclusive Package ($6500), which adds nappa leather upholstery, 20-inch alloys, adaptive two-axle air suspension, along with Comfort Seats up front with lumbar support and heating.
The Innovations Package ($1600) brings the multifunction BMW Display Key, also enabling Remote Control parking and Gesture Control.
Finally, there's the Comfort Package ($2700 Luxury Line, $3500 M Sport), adding heated seats for the front and rear, four-zone climate control, Ambient Air, electric roller sun blinds for the rear side windows, along with electric rear seat backrest adjustment (standard on Luxury Line).
First deliveries of the 620d GT are scheduled to arrive in October. Note: Overseas model shown.
