Aston Martin V12 Vantage – Australia’s First Track Test
Location: Morgan Park Raceway, Queensland.
CarAdvice has just completed Australia’s first track test of Aston Martin’s hard-core V12 Vantage sports car at Queensland’s Morgan Park Raceway.
Heavy rain and a water-logged track are certainly not ideal conditions for an all out track test of Aston’s smallest and lightest V12 powered rear wheel-drive sports car. But that was the prevailing weather that confronted us on our drive from Brisbane to Morgan Park early this morning.
With 386kW and 570 Newton-metres of torque on tap, traction control remained decidedly ‘on’ for the first few laps, before the rain miraculously stopped and the track dried out, which allowed some seriously fast laps in what is surely one of today’s most thrilling sports cars.
It’s a superbly balanced car and very forgiving at high speed, as recorded in high-definition by our Full Throttle video crew, who will post a short teaser clip on the site tomorrow night.
The full-length video review of the V12 Vantage will also include in-car footage and comments from CarAdvice’s resident race driver, Paul Stokell of Stokell Motorsports.
Stay tuned.
