2014-16 Dodge Journey, Fiat Freemont recalled

More vehicles caught up in faulty cruise control campaign.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for the Dodge Journey and Fiat Freemont twins over concerns a faulty control module could cause the cruise control to malfunction.

The manufacturer reports the software in the Power Control Module (PCM) may be faulty, which could cause the vehicle speed to lock or accelerate unexpectedly when cruise control is engaged.

"If the driver does not shift to neutral or apply the brakes to stop the vehicle this condition can cause a vehicle crash without warning," FCA said in its recall notice.

Affected Freemont and Journey units were sold between 2014 and 2016. The VIN list for these vehicles can be found here.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted by FCA Australia via mail, and advised to schedule and appointment with their local dealer – who will inspect the software and reprogram it if necessary.

This notice comes after the Chrysler 300, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee were all recalled for the same issue over the past three weeks.
