It was a good week for Tesla.

Hyundai Santa Cruz 'too small' for Australia

Hyundai has confirmed the Santa Cruz ute will go into production for North America by 2020. Great news, right? Well, there's no guarantee it'll make its way Down Under.

"Well, you may know the smaller ute concept, which is called the Santa Cruz, has been earmarked for production from North America. We think that's a vehicle that is too small for us," Oliver Mann, Hyundai Australia marketing director, told us.


2019 Suzuki Jimny: Australian launch now official

It should have been a sure thing, given the long-running local love for the little tike and the easy availability of right-hand drive, but there was a hint of a chance we'd be left out.

Well, as of this week, it's now official: the 2019 Suzuki Jimny will come to Australia.


Kia Stinger joins Queensland Police fleet

Where the New South Wales Police turned to the BMW 530d and Chrysler 300 SRT Core for its post-Commodore V8 fleet, Queensland is putting its faith in the Stinger.



Honda Australia is 2018's most improved brand so far

Honda Australia's momentum continued in June, with the company setting a new monthly record of 7013 units, up 34 per cent over the same month in 2017.

The result is a milestone in the company's 49-year history here, and was driven for the most part by its two SUVs, the HR-V and CR-V.



2018 Hyundai Santa Fe pricing and specs

Hyundai Australia has released pricing and specifications for the all-new seven-seat 2019 Santa Fe, which arrives in showrooms this week.

You'll pay between $43,000 and $60,500 before on-road costs for the SUV. Too much, not enough or just right?


2019 Renault Megane RS pricing and specs

Renault Australia has announced pricing and specifications for the incoming Megane RS, ahead of its September arrival Down Under.

Pricing will kick off with the RS280 manual at $44,990 before on-road costs, jumping to $47,490 for the RS280 dual-clutch. In standard 'RS280' trim, you'll get a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol sending 205kW and 390Nm to the front wheels, along with four-wheel steering and and a 'standard' suspension setup.


Tesla Model 3: 5000-car week achieved

Tesla has built 5000 Model 3s in a week – thanks in part to a hastily-erected tent in the brand's Fremont factory parking lots – marking the completion of an Elon Musk promise.

The strong Model 3 output, combined with good demand for Model S/X, drove second-quarter production to 53,339 vehicles, a new record.


ANCAP encouraging buyers to get into new cars

The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has launched a campaign encouraging car buyers to stump for the newest possible car, asking 'who would survive' a head-on collision between a 1998 and 2015 Toyota Corolla to illustrate how far passive safety has improved over the past two decades.


Holden announces permanent five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty

Holden has extended its standard warranty to five years with no kilometre cap, as a show of confidence in its new, imported-only product line.

Government, fleet and rental buyers will get the same five years, albeit with a 200,000 kilometre cap. The new coverage period came into force on July 1, 2018, and will apply to all new Holden cars going forward  – unlike previous warranty promotions, which had an end date.
