Aston Martin DB11 pair gets worked over by Q

Pair of two-door Grand Tourers gets a special makeover.

Aston Martin has revealed details about a pair of one-off DB11 V8 creations, born in the bespoke 'Q' department at Gaydon.

The first is inspired by the Henley Royal Regatta, a famous rowing event held on the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, UK, every year. Based on a DB11 Volante, the car is finished in White Stone on the outside, contrasting with a Red Oxide leather interior.

When it comes to the details, Q at Aston Martin has chosen a black roof, dark brake calipers, carbon-fibre exterior detailing and smoked tail-lights.

To galvanise the connection with Henley, the cabin is trimmed in carbon-fibre with a stainless-steel 'crossed-oar' motif and blue markings, designed to mimic the details on the blade of rowers' oars.

Pricing is suitably steep, given this is a one-off: you'll pay £199,995 ($360,000) for the privilege of driving one – down on the $398,495 before on-roads we pay in Australia, but up on the £159,900 usually charged in the UK.

Along with the rowing-inspired Volante, the Q team has turned to Classic Driver (a website dedicated to classic cars) for inspiration, and created the DB11 Classic Driver Edition.

Just 40 examples will be built: 20 V8 coupes and 20 V8 Volantes, all finished in a bespoke shade of Classic Driver Grey. The gloss finish is contrasted with a special Eifel Green lacquer on the carbon-fibre exterior package, designed to evoke Classic Driver's traditional colour scheme.

Inside, there's Eifel Green leather everywhere. The seats, steering wheel and dashboard are all trimmed in green 'Caithness' cowhide, rounded off by contrast Parliament Green stitching on the headrests.

As with the Volante, there's a bespoke sill plate commemorating the special edition's inspiration. Like the exterior carbon, the sill plate is finished with a special green lacquer.

“Having worked closely with Aston Martin, and having kept a special place in my heart for the brand for almost three decades, I am proud to celebrate Classic Driver’s anniversary with this limited-edition DB11,” said Knapp Voith, founder of Classic Driver. “For me, seeing both brands unite for this bespoke car truly feels like the perfect match.”

The DB11 Classic Driver Edition will be priced from £199,275 (circa $360,000) in the UK. It'll also be offered in the USA and Germany.
