2014-18 Jeep Cherokee recalled
2900 SUVs could be fitted with a faulty cruise control system.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for the 2014-2018 model-year Jeep Cherokee, over concerns a faulty Power Control Module (PCM) could make cruise control to lock or accelerate unexpectedly.
The manufacturer reports the PCM's computer software is faulty, and could cause the "possible locking of speed or cause acceleration of the vehicle" when cruise control is activated.
If the condition occurs, Jeep says the issue could cause an accident if the driver does not shift to neutral or apply the brakes.
A total of 2938 units are affected by this recall – you can view the VIN list here.
Owners of the recalled Cherokees will be contacted via mail, and advised to make an appointment with their local dealer for repair.
