Poll: 2019 BMW 8 Series takes down S-Class Coupe

This week, it's an all-Audi A1 head-to-head

The new BMW 8 Series divided opinion among commenters when it launched, but it's proven a hit with respondents to our latest poll, taking down the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.

BMW drew out the reveal of the 8 Series, building up to the full launch at Le Mans with concepts, teasers, and camouflaged cars galore. There were a few leaks along the way, too.

When production starts later this year, the car will be offered in petrol M850i guise, and as a diesel 840d. The former is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 390kW of power and 750Nm of torque, the latter a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-diesel pumping out 235kW and 680Nm.

Meanwhile, the S-Class Coupe is a two-door take on the flagship Mercedes-Benz. Along with the S450 and S560, powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 and 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 respectively, it's offered in V8 S63 and V12 S65 AMG guises. There's also a convertible, something we're yet to see from BMW.

Despite that fact, the 8 Series commanded 67 per cent of the vote. BMW will be hoping the car is that popular in the real world.

THIS WEEK'S POLL

There's a new Audi A1 in town, and it looks angry. Are you a fan of the Audi's second-generation supermini, or has the design team in Ingolstadt messed with perfection?

UPDATE: It looks like Facebook is doing silly things with its embedded media, as the poll options are no longer appearing above. For now, if you'd like to vote, head to our Facebook post. Otherwise, stay tuned for the results next week.
