This week’s top news stories: June 22

Lots and lots of new models headline this week's news column.

The automotive news wheel is always turning. If you’re not constantly checking CarAdvice – which you should be doing, by the way – it can be easy for some headlines to slip through the cracks.

To make sure you haven’t missed anything important, we’ve gathered what we reckon are the hottest news stories from this week, right here. Check them out, and let us know what caught your eye.

2019 Suzuki Jimny revealed on global corporate site

A lot of people (us included) have been waiting a long time for this. The all-new Suzuki Jimny has been revealed by the company's Japanese and global divisions, ahead of a full launch next month.

We don't have all the details yet, but it's bloody cute!

2019 Audi A1 Sportback revealed, here in 2019

Leaked at first, then officially detailed shortly after, the new-generation Audi A1 has finally been unveiled.

It's based on the new MQB A0 platform used by the Audi Q2 crossover and closely-related Volkswagen Polo, bringing an array of new technology options and a significant increase in practicality.

As for the looks? We'll let you be the judge.

2019 BMW X4: Initial details for Australia

The all-new X4 is due to land Down Under in the third-quarter of 2018, and this week the Bavarian marque confirmed we can expect a four-model range priced between $75,000 and $110,000.

Engines and specifications will largely mirror that of the related X3 wagon, though niceties like the M Sport Package and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display are included as standard from the base level.

2019 Volkswagen Golf updates detailed

Volkswagen's local division held a comprehensive product briefing this week, and one of the headlining stories was the revised MY19 Golf range.

What's changed? The Golf R manual is gone, as is the slow-selling 110TSI base model – meaning the Trendline will become the new entry point from October.

There's also added equipment across the range, while high-spec models get the full suite driver-assist tech as standard.

Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR confirmed for Australia

In other Volkswagen news, the company has confirmed the 213kW/370Nm Golf GTI TCR – which hasn't been officially revealed in production form yet, mind you – is coming to Australia in the first half of 2019.

Other than the outputs, we know that the GTI TCR will be a "highly specified five-door" that will be available in limited numbers.

2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt here in October from $73,688

The Blue Oval's local division has finally confirmed pricing and Australian allocation numbers for the special-edition Mustang Bullitt, which will be priced at $73,688 plus on-road costs (including LCT) when it lands in October.

Only 700 of the green ponies will be heading Down Under, complete with unique Bullitt badging and trimmings, a model-specific green paint finish, and a slight power bump.

Plus, it's only available in manual.

2019 Volvo S60 revealed

The Swedish marque has been on a roll with its recent designs, and the all-new S60 sedan is no different.

Borrowing cues from its 60 Series brethren – i.e. the V60 wagon and XC60 SUV – along with the larger S90 sedan, the S90 is sleek and sexy.

What's not so flash is that we don't know if it's coming to Australia – make your voices heard, we want it here!
