2019 Audi RS Q8 spied again

Flagship version of flagship SUV spied with thinner disguise

A prototype believed to be the upcoming Audi RS Q8 has been spied with less camouflage, giving us a better look at the upcoming flagship four-ringed SUV.

Snapped alongside an early development vehicle for the next-generation RS6, the RS Q8 has dropped more than half of the swirly black-and-white wrap that disguised most of the vehicle we spotted in May – though there aren't really any surprises in terms of the overall design.

What's hiding behind the remaining camouflage is a more aggressive bodykit, which also includes massive intakes on each side of the front bumper, along with a rear diffuser incorporating large oval-shaped dual exhaust pipes – a signature Audi RS design element – looking very much like the Q8 sport concept shown at last year's Geneva motor show.

Filling the pumped arches are huge alloy wheels – 22-inches in diameter – covering equally huge composite brakes with six-piston calipers up front.

No images were taken of the interior, though we're expecting the RS Q8 to get racier seats, carbon-fibre trim elements, a sportier steering wheel, and the usual lashings of RS badges throughout.

In terms of the powertrain, the RS Q8 is expected to share its heart with the related Lamborghini Urus – which utilises a 478kW/850Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.

We're not sure when Audi will reveal the production version, but a late-2018/early-2019 debut seems likely.

Until then, stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest, and head to the galleries section for more images.
