2020 Porsche Taycan teased – video
EV sports car to embody company's driver-first ethos
Porsche has published a teaser video for its upcoming Taycan electric sports car, the production version of the Mission E concept.
It won't enter the market until 2019, but the German marque is keen to highlight the fact it hasn't lost its mojo with electric power.
The Taycan is described as "soul, electrified", and claims to give the driver "a certain feeling" behind the wheel just like all other Porsche models.
During the short clip, we see flashes of the Taycan's side profile and lighting signatures, which look very similar to those of the Mission E.
In terms of powertrain, Porsche claims the Taycan will have a system output of more than 440kW from its two electric motors, should sprint from 0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds, and hit 200km/h within 12 seconds.
Range, meanwhile, is projected to be over 500km on the NEDC cycle, though that figure could change under the new WLTP testing regime.
Porsche has expanded its factory in Zuffenhausen to produce the Taycan. Earlier this year it confirmed it will double its spending on electric vehicle projects to €6 billion ($9.3 billion) until 2022, including an extra €500 million developing variants based on the Taycan.
