2019 Volvo S60 teased ahead of June 20 reveal

All-new sedan to debut in South Carolina

Volvo Cars has teased the all-new S60, which will be revealed next week as part of inauguration proceedings for the company's new US factory.

In a new video posted to the company's Facebook page, the brief teaser shows a quick top-down shot, then reveals the new S60's face – complete with a Polestar Engineered badge on the grille.

The looks are no surprise, because it has a face to match the wagon-bodied V60 and bears a strong resemblance to the related XC60 SUV.

Volvo has confirmed it will reveal the new S60 on June 20, which will also debut the company's new Polestar Engineered range of performance accessories for the 60 Series family fitted with the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid system.

Scheduled to be manufactured in Charleston, South Carolina, the S60 is the first Volvo car to be made in the US

Meanwhile, the new Polestar Engineered accessories were detailed earlier this week, bringing upgrades to wheels, brakes, suspensions and engine control units (ECUs), and will be available exclusively for T8 variants.

The parts will then become available on the V60 and XC60 from 2019, albeit in "limited numbers" through Volvo dealers.

Upgrades on offer include new lightweight alloy wheels, Brembo monoblock brakes with gold-painted calipers, Polestar emblems, black chrome exhaust tips, gold seatbelts, suspension with Öhlins shock absorbers – the struth bar and adjustable shock absorber design are shared with the Polestar 1 performance coupe.

There's also an upgrade for the powertrain – boosting combined outputs to 415hp (309kW) and 670Nm, up from 400hp (298kW) and 640Nm. Volvo claims the engine software upgrades also improve fuel consumption and electric-only performance, along with refining the "automatic gear selection".

Australia

Speaking with CarAdvice, Volvo's local communications boss, Greg Bosnich, said the Polestar Engineered parts are being considered, though could not confirm any further details.

"Australia is a long lead time market and a decision to take a model as part of the product portfolio is always a longer term proposition. No final decision as yet," he said.

"A decision will be communicated closer to the model’s global introduction."
