McLaren P1 GT Longtail teased by Lanzante

The company has history with hotter McLarens, too

Lanzante Motorsport has teased the McLaren P1 GT Longtail, ahead of a possible launch at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

If the Lanzante name is familiar, it's because the company took the track-only McLaren P1 GTR – itself, a racing version of a road car – and made it road legal. The company has history with the McLaren P1, then.

The car pictured here, posted on the company's Instagram account, has been commissioned as a limited-run project for a few (very) wealthy customers. Details about how many will be built haven't been revealed, but we'd bank on a single-figure production count.

As you can see, there are new louvres over the front wheel arches, and the car is finished in a shade of green reminiscent of the XP Green applied to the original McLaren F1 GT Longtail.

The real action, though, is likely to be hiding at the rear. Given the Longtail moniker, we're expecting a longer (duh) rear section for more downforce, and some weight savings throughout the car to improve performance from the twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain.

There's no official word on when the Longtail will be revealed officially, but Goodwood is just around the corner, and would be a logical place for launch.
