The Aston Martin Rapide AMR has been revealed, sporting racy looks, more power, and a super limited production run.
Based on the concept car shown at last year's Geneva motor show, the Rapide AMR will be limited to just 210 units globally, and joins other Aston Martin Racing (AMR) models based on the previous-generation Vantage, and the DB11.
Compared to the 'standard' Rapide, the AMR version gets a unique grille and body kit similar to that of the concept car previewing it, along with circular LED daytime-running lights in the front bumper that are reminiscent of recent Zagato models.
It's not all about the looks, either, as the aerodynamic revisions for the front splitter, sills, rear diffuser and boot lip spoiler all contribute to reduced lift, while their carbon-fibre construction also helps to cut weight.
Under the bonnet, the 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 – which Aston Martin continues to call a '6.0-litre' – has been bumped to 440kW (603PS) for the UK and European markets, while everywhere else gets a slightly less potent 433kW tune. Both versions develop peak power at 7000rpm.
Regardless of the region, however, all Rapide AMRs produce the same 630Nm of torque. To achieve the extra grunt, Aston Martin has added larger inlet manifolds with tuned dual-inlet runners to increase airflow, along with a recalibrated engine gearbox tune.
A new quad-tipped sports exhaust system, meanwhile, "ensures the raucous sound befitting of the AMR badge".
The Rapide AMR sprints from 0-100km/h in the same 4.4 seconds as the Rapide S, and has a claimed top speed of 330km/h – not bad for a 1990kg luxury barge.
Other highlights include special 21-inch forged alloy wheels – a first for any production Aston Martin – wrapped in Michelin Super Sport tyres, 400mm front and 360mm rear carbon-ceramic brake discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, and a 10mm-lower ride height thanks to the revised suspension setup.
Like other AMR products, the Rapide AMR will be available in three distinct colour schemes, inspired by racing liveries – Standard scheme, Silhouette scheme, and Signature scheme.
The Standard scheme adds AMR Lime accents to the splitter sills and rear diffuser, while the Silhouette livery deselects the Lime highlights in favour of a full-length contrasting stripe in China Grey or Clubsport White. Both the Standard and Silhouette schemes are available with Mariana Blue, Scintilla Silver, Lightning Silver and Onyx Black exterior finishes.
Meanwhile, the Signature scheme (pictured) teams Stirling Green exterior paint with Lime accents and a Lime stripe, which "draws the closest visual link to the Aston Martin Racing team".
The interior is available with contrasting AMR Lime or Galena Silver welting and stitching, a full-length carbon-fibre console, and Alcantara-trimmed seats – for the first time in the Rapide. Also available for the first time is the option of a steering wheel similar to the one used in the One-77 hypercar.
Each examples gets Galena Silver AMR logos stitched into the seats, along with a limited-edition AMR inscription plaque and AMR branding in the carbon-fibre sill plaques.
Customers who don't care for the three available design schemes can opt for a bespoke project commissioned by the Q by Aston Martin division.
Pricing for the Rapide AMR starts at £194,950 ($344,219) in the UK and US$240,000 ($316,860) in North America. It will be "available globally", though China and Russia are set to miss out. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The company didn't mention a specific number of allocated units for our market, though it did say it anticipates "a small number of models in market in 2018".
