2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible spied

Flagship drop-top edges closer to full reveal

The BMW 8 Series Convertible has been spied again this week, ahead of the flagship model's offical debut on June 15.

In this latest set of images, the subject is a camouflaged 8 Series drop-top that appears to be deep orange under the black-and-white wrap.

We reckon this particular vehicle is fitted with the M Sport package, going by the sporty bumpers, large alloy wheels, and large brakes with blue calipers.

At this stage, we know the 8 Series coupe will make its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15, but we're unsure whether the convertible will be presented alongside the hardtop or have its own launch down the track.

Headlining the core range will be the M850i xDrive, powered by a 'new' twin-turbo V8 making 390kW of power and 750Nm of torque, channelled to a rear-biased all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Other powertrains are expected to be turbocharged sixes and potentially the turbocharged V12 from the M760Li xDrive.

Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest 8 Series updates in the lead-up to its reveal next week.
