Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster concept unveiled
SUV fleshes out the new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design theme
The Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster concept has been unveiled at the 2018 Busan motor show, providing a look at how a bigger Korean crossover might manifest when it reaches production.
According to its creators, the HDC-2 Grandmaster provides a "more detailed blueprint" for its new Sensuous Sportiness design language, which was first unveiled with the HDC-1 Le Fil Rouge sedan concept at this year's Geneva motor show.
More important that that, though, is what Hyundai isn't officially saying about its bluff new concept.
This car may provide some clues about the styling of the new three-row crossover slated to sit above the Santa Fe, which will likely share a lot of its oily parts with the production Kia Telluride.
A prototype for this new SUV was last spied undergoing cold weather testing in April this year.
There are distinct similarities between the concept and prototype's side window graphics. We wouldn't be surprised if the concept's hockey stick-style chrome line, grille, multi-part headlamp treatment, and maybe its taillights appear on the new range-topping SUV.
"Making a big step forward in terms of design with the Hyundai Look strategy, we will move towards becoming a brand that customers can really relate to emotionally," SangYup Lee, vice president in charge of styling, said in a prepared statement overnight.
"Moving on from being a brand that provides a great value, we will aspire to also become a brand that is widely beloved by our customers."
