2019 McLaren 570LT teased

Hotter Sport Series is coming

McLaren Automotive has teased a track-ready take on the 570S, its Sport Series flagship, in similar vein to the 675LT.

Revealed in a single image on McLaren's social media channels, the car is finished in a shade of slate grey, and runs with a more aggressive carbon-fibre diffuser than the 'standard' version.

As mentioned in the image caption, there's one notable absence from the picture – an exhaust pipe. The diffuser sits exactly where the exhaust would be on a regular 570S, prompting some commenters to ask if it's electric.

It isn't electric, as confirmed by the exhaust rasp in the teaser video. We'd simply suggest the engine now breathes through a lightweight exhaust with high-mounted exits, maybe even through a central exhaust pipe like the P1.

Beyond what we can see here, details about the 570LT are hard to come by. Based on previous LT-badged models, we'd suggest it'll have a slightly longer body than the standard car, with more power from the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.

It should also be lighter than the regular car, with a stripped-back interior and roll cage. Working with stiffer suspension, stickier tyres, and bigger brakes, we'd expect the LT to be a bona-fide track star.

The new model will likely be built in limited numbers, although exactly how many will be made remains to be seen. It's expected to be launched next month at some point.
