Skoda Sunroq unveiled
SUV cabriolet based on Karoq created by students
The Skoda Sunroq, a four-door open-top crossover based on the Karoq, has been unveiled by its student creators in Mladá Boleslav, Czechia.
It took 23 students around eight months to design, convert and produce the Sunroq. The students received instruction, training and advice from Skoda's design and engineering teams.
In addition to lopping off the car's roof, the students have redesigned the car's A- and B-pillars, modified the doors, and given the vehicle a new tailgate.
Finished in an eye-catching shade of red, the Sunroq has a completely retrimmed white and red leather interior, illuminated badges, and the Skoda name projected out of the doors and front bumper.
The Sunroq rides on 20-inch black and red alloy wheels in with 235/35 Pirelli P-Zero tyres.
Under the bonnet, the Sunroq is powered by the Volkswagen Group's 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. According to the Czech company, the Sunroq is capable of going from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 195km/h.
The Sunroq is fifth student-developed "Azubi car" from Skoda, and follows on from the 2017 Element, 2016 Atero, 2015 Funstar, and 2014 Citijet.
