2011 BMW 1 Series M spied on the Nurburgring
These are the clearest shots yet of the upcoming BMW 1 Series from the BMW M-division, being put through its paces on the gruelling Nürburgring race circuit.
Though it may be just the baby of BMW's performance line-up, the prototype certainly looks the part on the track with its gaping front air dam, wider track and huge wheels.
It is a safe bet that the new model will use a high-output version of BMW's 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, multiple International Engine of the Year award winner.
The last mystery will be the name which the new model will go by – with the M1 moniker already reserved for the brand’s halo car, insiders are tipping either the BMW 1 Series M or a variant of the ‘tii’ designation.
