Hyundai launches Trophy editions for i30, Tucson, Elantra – UPDATE

Limited-run specials bring extra kit and drive-away deals to sales favourites

Update (28/5/18): We have updated this article with advertised drive-away pricing for the Hyundai Trophy models. See article for details

Hyundai Australia has announced a trio of special-edition Trophy variants based on the popular i30, Tucson and Elantra, which arrive in dealers from May 30.

Each Trophy edition is based on the respective entry-level variant from each model line, adding extra equipment normally reserved for higher grade models.

First up is the i30 Trophy (top), which is limited to 1000 units and priced from $23,990 drive-away.

Key upgrades over the base i30 Go include rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather-appointed interior – available in black or beige – along with a chrome front grille.

Power comes from the same 2.0-litre 'GDi' naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which makes 120kW of power and 203Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic as standard.

Four colours are available for the i30 Trophy – Polar White, Iron Gray, Fiery Red and Stargazing Blue. Metallic and mica finishes (all except white) ask for an additional $495.

Those wanting a sedan can opt for the Elantra Trophy, which is priced from $23,990 drive-away.

Equipment upgrades basically mirror that of the i30 special, though the Elantra Active the Trophy is based on already has rear parking sensors as standard.

The same colour options are offered too, though power comes from a different 2.0-litre 'MPi' four-cylinder petrol motor, generating 112kW of power and 192Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed auto.

Just 300 examples of the Elantra special edition will be offered.

Finally, the Tucson Trophy ($31,990 drive-away) is limited to 650 units nationally.

Compared to the Active grade, the Tucson Trophy gains 18-inch alloys, heated exterior mirrors, leather-appointed interior (also available in black or beige), chrome front grille surround, chrome exterior door handles, a matte-grey "side garnish insert", along with lighting for the vanity mirrors and glovebox compartment.

Power comes from the same 2.0-litre GDi petrol engine as the i30, though it makes 1kW more with outputs rated at 121kW and 203Nm. Like the other Trophy models, a six-speed automatic sends drive to the front wheels as standard.

The Hyundai Trophy range goes on sale this Wednesday (May 30).
