29 SUVs included in campaign
Mercedes-Benz has recalled the 2017 GLC crossover over concerns the passenger airbag control unit may have been manufactured incorrectly.
According to the company, the connector pins in the control unit might have been manufactured incorrectly, causing a higher resistance in the wiring over time. Over time, this could make the occupant classification system – the one that works out whether there's someone in the seat – mightn't work.
This could make the passenger airbag deactivate, increasing the risk of injury in an accident where the airbags would otherwise deploy.
The 29 affected vehicles were built between January 2, 2017 and April 3, 2017 – a VIN list is attached here.
Mercedes-Benz has advised owners to contact their nearest dealership for a fix.
