2012-2016 Ford Kuga, Focus manual recalled

Ford Australia has recalled Kuga and Focus models fitted with a manual transmission built between December 2012 and June 2016, over concerns about an overheating clutch assembly.

According to the company, the clutch assembly could overheat if there's excessive clutch slip. If the condition occurs, the clutch pressure plate could crack or fracture, which could then damage the assembly and create a fluid leak.

Ford says leaking transmission fluid with an ignition source nearby could cause an engine bay fire.

A total of 1907 cars are affected across the two model lines: included Kuga models were built between December 2012 and June 2016, while affected Focus models rolled off the production line between June 2015 and June 2016.
