Good Design Awards: Lexus, Volvo, Hyundai nab titles

The Lexus LC500, Volvo XC40, and Hyundai Kona have won prizes in the Automotive and Transport category of the Good Design Awards.

Sitting atop the tree in exterior design was the LC500, which won the first-ever Best Exterior Design Award for Automotive and Transport, after being described as a "stunning vehicle in every regard" by the judging panel.

"The LC is design craftsmanship at its very best," the panel elaborated.

"This car has presence on the road like no other; it is one of the finest creations so far by Lexus and a window into what's to come from this design-driven brand."

Along with the big Lexus, Volvo snagged two awards with its SUVs. The XC40 won an award, while the XC60 scooped a 'gold award' for its unique Scandinavian design.

The Hyundai Kona was also treated to an award, described by the judges as "stylish and unique".

Moving away from cars, the Good Design Awards were won by the Facett, the world's first modular hearing aid, which was designed by Blamey Saunders Hears in Australia.
