2019 Bentley Continental GTC spied again

Uber-luxe drop-top hits the Nurburgring

The next-generation Bentley Continental GTC has been spied undertaking performance testing at the Nurburgring.

While the thin camouflage doesn't exactly reveal any new design details, it's quite obvious the GTC will be a fabric roofed version of the Continental GT coupe.

It's expected from launch the GTC will be fitted with the new GT's reworked 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12, which generates 466kW of power and 900Nm of torque. Should this be the case – and we'd argue it's very unlikely it won't be – drive will be sent to all four wheels via an eight-seed dual-clutch automatic.

Overseas speculation suggests further powertrain options will be offered across the Continental and eventually Flying Spur ranges down the track, including V8 and plug-in hybrid variants.

Also like the coupe, the GTC should be offered with the company's latest infotainment and driver-assistance systems, along with an Audi-style fully-digital instrument cluster.

The Continental GTC was initially believed to be prepping for a reveal at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, but instead the company launched the new Bentayga Hybrid.

Now, it's believed the drop-top Continental will be heading to Paris in October, but this is yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more updates over the coming months.
