GT Sprint is the first competition to be held on the 7.77km GT Circuit at The Bend Motorsport Park – a historic moment at what will become known as one of the world’s great race tracks.
The track is the second-longest permanent racetrack in the world after the Nurburgring, and the longest purpose-built racetrack in the world.
The main straight is over one kilometre long, there are 34 corners, some banked to the maximum allowed by FIA, others off-camber, there is 150m of aggregate elevation change – it’s a highly technical track that will challenge any driver and provide brilliant racing.
Off-track, the facilities are second to none – there’s even a 100-room 4-star hotel built above the pit building – the view from the balconies is incredible and you look straight down into pit lane.
GT Sprint has attracted a full field of 140 cars, from daily-driven road cars to full-tilt track specials, hand-built one-offs, exotics, time-attack cars, even a Bathurst-winning Commodore from 1986.
Porsches, Ferraris, Mazda rotaries, big V8s, whatever kind of car floats your boat, you’ll see it at GT Sprint.
For spectators, it’s a unique opportunity to see a huge variety of cars competing on an amazing track, with access to the paddock, grandstands and the park n view area.
Even the level four viewing deck, which offers views of almost the entire track, is open to all – this will usually be reserved for VIP hospitality.
The newly built track is around an hour away from Adelaide and promises to host some top-level world class motorsport events, following the GT Sprint.
