Skoda: Active Info Display coming in Q4

High-tech digital instruments coming to Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb

Skoda Australia will join family members Audi and Volkswagen in offering a fully-digital instrument cluster forselect models later this year, the local arm has confirmed.

Originally, the Czech brand's version of Volkswagen's Active Info Display – which measures 12.3 inches – was meant to launch with the all-new Karoq crossover, which goes on sale Down Under on July 2.

However, high global demand for the fancy digital instruments has pushed back the local release of the technology, meaning it will debut in several models during the fourth quarter of this year as a 2019 model-year update – namely the Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, and Superb.

Skoda's Active Info display (above) debuted on the Karoq when it was revealed last year, and then made its way to the Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb earlier this year at the Geneva motor show.

Our guess is that the tech will be offered as a cost-option on most grades, though top-spec versions of the Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb – think RS and Sportline versions – could get it as standard for the new model year.

For the time being, it seems the Fabia and Rapid will miss out, however, next-generation models should introduce the digital instruments. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest Skoda updates in the coming months.
