2019 Audi Q8 sketched from behind
Crossover to be revealed via online short serial
The production Audi Q8 has been teased in a sketch, with the car likely to be revealed, at least partially, via the online short serial drama "Q8 Unleashed".
Scheduled to run over five episodes, the series begins on May 21 and runs until June 5. According to the luxury marque, viewers who tune in will be "rewarded with a first glance at the most thrilling Audi SUV of all times".
Audi outlines the series thusly: "Sandra and Quentin, an extravagant power couple from the Golden State, had it all. Successful careers, a design loft, an influential circle of friends and the perfect car to match it all.
"But in a split second everything is about to change."
The series will be hosted on YouTube, and can also be accessed via the Q8.audi website.
As for the car itself, we know from spy photos it won't stray too far from the 2017 Q8 Concept and later Q8 Sport Concept in terms of design.
On the inside, the Q8 features a version of the dual-touchscreen setup we've already seen on the latest A8, A7 and A6 models.
Under the skin, the Q8 rides on the Volkswagen Group's MLB Evo platform for front- and all-wheel drive cars with a longitudinal engine. As such, it will share a lot in common with the Q7, Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Volkswagen Touareg.
We expect to see turbocharged V6 and V8 drivetrains powering the new Q8 range.
