Initial specifications for the HSV Chevrolet Camaro have been revealed, and spoiler alert – there's no manual version.
The Camaro will be imported and converted in only one spec: outgoing MY18 2SS trim, rather than the facelifted MY19 version. And, according to HSV's website, the V8 sports car will only be available locally with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre V8 develops 339kW of power and 617Nm of torque, with drive sent exclusively to the rear wheels. No performance times have been quoted by HSV, though Chevrolet's US site claims the auto-equipped Camaro SS can sprint from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 4.0 seconds.
Standard features as per the HSV website include Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers all round, a limited-slip differential, bi-modal exhaust system with polished stainless steel tips, 20-inch five-spoke alloys wrapped in 245/40 front and 275/35 rear Goodyear Eagle run-flat tyres, automatic headlights, front fog-lights, keyless entry with remote start, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, and a 7.0-inch MyLink touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other equipment highlights include wireless phone charging, an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat with memory, six-way power passenger's seat, an 8.0-inch digital driver's display, sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather-trimmed sports seats with heating and ventilation, configurable interior ambient lighting (24 colours), blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and seven airbags.
Final pricing is still to be confirmed, though a dealer website recently posted on social media that the Chevrolet Camaro will be priced from around $90,000.
By comparison, the updated 2018 Ford Mustang GT with its 339kW/556Nm 5.0-litre V8, will start at $62,990 plus ORCs when it arrives mid-year.
